Today I am going to review a product from my skincare routine. I have used this product extensively in the summers but on and off in the winters. It is the Neutrogena oil free moisture combination skin type.
Oil-Free Moisture for Combination Skin is a lightweight, dual-action formula that moisturizes dry areas while it controls oily shine.
First, this dermatologist-tested formula moisturizes where skin is dry, without leaving it oily or shiny. Then, a special oil-absorbing Microsponge® system controls oil and shine in the T-Zone—or wherever else skin is oily.
Skin feels softer, smoother. Has a natural, matte finish throughout the day.
- Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores)
Price 299 INR for 118 ml
Directions For Use
Use 1 pump and apply all over face and neck. Use morning and night, alone or under make-up. Avoid contact with the eyes.
What I think
Combination skin type is the trickiest of them all – you can’t use a heavy moisturizer, it will end up clogging your pores (T zone) while providing enough hydration for the cheeks. At the same time, you can’t use a light moisturizer as it may not provide sufficient hydration. I have tried a plethora of moisturizers for my combination skin type. Some I have repurchased and others I’ve given a wide berth. While browsing through the skincare aisle, I came across this product and would have skipped it if not for the words “combination skin” on the cover.
This moisturizer comes in white bottle with a pump dispenser. Unlike the traditional pump dispensers, this one has a locking mechanism which when turned clockwise locks the nozzle. This makes it quite travel friendly as there is no possibility of any leakage.
The product is white in color and has a slight runny consistency. A pea sized amount is all you need to spread the product evenly over the face. And another small pump for the neck. It feels very light and gets absorbed into the skin without appearing greasy
This product lives upto it claim of being hypoallergenic as it has never broken me out. My skin leans toward combination type in summers while normal in the winters (Mumbai winters to be precise). The moisturizer has worked like a dream in the summers. I usually get a few dry patches on my jaw and around the nose. This moisturizer adequately works on these problem areas. As for oil control, it doesn’t give a matte finish throughout the day. If that were the case then we wouldn’t have needed oil control primers and face powders (*eye roll*). I tested this product indoors under a BB cream with no powder. It controlled oil for a good span of about 4 hours which is more than sufficient for a moisturizer that has oil control properties (contains silica) I feel.
Overall I am impressed with this moisturizer and its one of the best drugstore moisturizer I have used.
- Absorbs quickly
- Extremely light
- Non greasy
- Hydrates well
- Travel friendly packaging
- Small amount of product will suffice
- Works on dry patches
- Sufficient oil control
- Doesn’t control shine throughout the day as claimed
I will repurchase this one again. Its non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic and lives upto most of the claims. If you have combination skin type, this product is the one for you.
Let me know if you guys have used this moisturizer. Which one are you using right now?
