What I think
Just like we use a face primer to get a great canvas for face makeup, equally important it is to give a good base for eye makeup. The NYX eye shadow base primarily is an eye primer that preps the eye lids for the eye shadow to appear vibrant and stay put for a longer time.
This eye shadow base comes in a small transparent rounded jar with a screw on white plastic lid. The cap has the classic NYX brand name inscribed on the top. The ingredients along with the shade number are listed on the bottom of the jar. The packaging is quite neat and compact. The jar is leak proof and will stay put in the makeup bag making it travel friendly.
The texture of the product is quite creamy and spreads into a silky smooth finish. It blends easily onto the lids. We can use either the ring finger or a concealer brush to apply the product. The formula is highly pigmented and hence helps in covering up the darkness on the lids if any. It applies evenly giving a smooth base for the eye makeup to settle on. A little amount of the product goes a long way.
The shade skin tone as the name suggests is a neutral shade which gels very well with Indian skin tones.
This base absolutely wins on its efficacy as it enhances the eyes shadow colors and makes them pop out while making them last for a whooping 8 to 10 hours without any visible creasing or fading. You can see in the below swatch the impressive differences between the shades which are applied with the base on and without the base. It might not show such spectacular crease resistance on oily eye lids. Only thing I don’t like is the tub packing but then I hate all tub packages because of the hygiene factor.
To sum it up, I’m truly impressed with this primer as it gives that much needed vibrancy and boost to the eye shadow. Almost nil creasing and fading factors are the highlighting points for the NYX eye shadow base.
