What I think

Packaging

Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow palette comes in a compact black rectangular acrylic pan with a partially transparent lid. The lid shuts tight and you can easily carry this in your bag. The packaging mentions all the ingredients. The back of the pan also mentions the grouping for shades available. These are grouped into duos, trios and quads. I feel this is pretty useful and handy for beginners. For detailed instructions you can check this link here It comes with a double ended shadow applicator which is kind of redundant. The applicator head is tiny and narrow and it’s not feasible for picking any color.

Shades & Textures

The palette has 12 eyeshadows – 5 Matte shades & 7 Shimmer/Frost shades. Considering the top row numbered as 1 – 6 and bottom row numbered as 7 – 12, shades 3, 5, 6, 8 and 10 are mattes. The matte shades are smooth and have decent pigmentation except shade 12 which is black. It is rather too chalky and is not high on pigmentation. The Shimmery shades 4, 7, 9 and 10 are awesomely pigmented and buttery smooth in texture (like Coastal Scents or Urban Decay ones). These 4 shades make this palette in my opinion. I feel the Gold shade 9 could have been a little deeper to show up on Indian skin tones. Since these are glitter free – there is zero fallout. Shade 11 makes an amazing brow bone and inner corner highlighter – it is an okay-ish shimmer shade that has just a small amount of shine enough to add depth to the brow indentations and inner corners of the eye. Shade 2 is a shimmery dupe of matte shade 5. It just has a few silver flecks in it. I am not a big fan of this shade though. Shade 1 is very pretty and has iridescence which would add dimension to the lids. I use this shade as a top up (like reflective pigments) on the lid color. The iridescence just pops the color beautifully.

Worth factor

The palette offers versatile shades with good pigmentation, color payoff and zero fallout. You can create a whole lot of different eye makeup combinations from this palette. It has a good mix of mattes and shimmers that cover lid colors as well as crease colors. Except the black shade which is a total dud, all these shades blend well and gives good color payoff. Without a primer underneath, most of these lasts about 6 hours before the first sign of creasing.

To sum it up, I don’t regret making this purchase. The quality, color and efficacy are at par for a 10$ palette. Having said that, this is not a must have palette since I still feel Coastal Scents revealed palettes would be a better investment. I already own both Revealed and Revealed 2. This was just to satisfy my curious mind 😉

Recommendation

If you are a beginner into eye makeup, then this is definitely worth trying. I would still recommend this to everyone in general since it’s a steal at 10$ – considering the fact you are getting 3 quads for 10$.
