Recently I picked up 2 shades from the Revlon Colorburst Lip butter range. This range from Revlon like all their lip ranges is absolutely great with a wide variety of shade selection. Today I am reviewing the shade Candy Apple.

What I think
The Revlon Colorburst Lip butter comes with a trendy two-sided quilt design cap with the bullet secured in a silver casing. The cap is color coded which makes it very easy to pick the right color. It also has a color coded shade sticker with the shade name and number at the bottom. The cap shuts tight with the casing. Overall for a drugstore brand, I absolutely adore the packaging. For me, it scores full marks on the attractive quotient.
Texture & Fragrance
The formula as claimed is very buttery and soft. It is light weight and is not at all sticky. As soon as you swipe it, you feel that instant boost of hydration. Needless to say, it glides on lips like a dream – no tugging at all. Fragrance is almost nil but a whiff of the lipstick bullet gives off a teeny tiny coffee scent. I don’t know, may be its just me
The shade Candy Apple is a beautiful reddish coral. Since it’s a lip butter, you can’t expect it to provide full coverage and as such being one of the brightest shades in the range, it provides medium coverage to the lips with a lovely glossy finish. Though this shade packs in a punch of color, it is a versatile shade that can be worn by all type of skin tones – wear it sheer or with multiple swipes, it won’t look OTT.
Staying power of this lip butter is amazing for the formula. Since its quite staining, it can last about 3 – 4 hours with intermittent sips & meals. The glossiness however wears off in an hour or so. I haven’t tried the lighter shades but I guess they won’t stain and last this long. This lip butter nourishes the lips so well – it gives a plumped healthy look to the lips. The first and foremost factor that makes me reach for this product so often these days is the hydration that it provides to the lips. I don’t feel the need for a lip balm. Having said all this, coming to the price point, I do think it’s a bit pricey in India. Here in US, these are usually on offers of buy one get 50% off on second which makes it a steal.
To sum it up, I really love this range from Revlon – be it the formula, efficacy or the packaging.
- Trendy and robust packaging
- Sheer to medium coverage
- Glossy finish that settles to a stain after a while
- Very moisturizing
- Applies evenly and smoothly
- Nourishes lips – adds plumpness
- Lasts about 3 – 4 hours as a stain
- Will suit all skin tones
- Almost nil fragrance
- 11 beautiful shades
Highly recommended! This range especially the brighter shades are worth trying. Bagging it on discounts would be the icing on the cake :D. Priced at 650 INR, these are definitely expensive but then I wouldn’t really consider that as a bad point since in India, concept of “drugstore” makeup is ridiculously redundant.
