The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Body Butter
Hi Guys,
Today I am reviewing The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Body Butter from the Smoky Poppy range that was launched in US back somewhere in March 2015 as part of spring 2015 release. I know this is a way overdue post but I totally forgot to review these and in between using a million other products, finished almost 75% of the products from this range. I am not sure if this collection has made it to India yet but I really hope it does because this is one range you don’t want to miss out on.

What I think
The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Body Butter comes in an opaque matte black plastic tub with a screw on lid. Unlike TBS’s usual fun but subtle and colorful color scheme, with Smoky Poppy range they have gone quite out with the black and red accents which looks really chic. This tub is a travel sized version perfect to carry on the go but I don’t find any issues with the full sized tub.
The product is pure white in color and has a thick creamy texture. Depending on your skin type and also the weather, TBS body butters might end up being a bit rich for the skin. I myself prefer lotions during the hot weather and butters for the cold. While comparing to the Cocoa body butter (recommended for very dry skin reviewed here), this is not as rich and creamy. So I have used this in the summers and it works well with my skin.
This butter keeps skin hydrated for about 8 hours. On my otherwise normal skin, I do get dry flaky areas on my arms and legs in winters and TBS body butters work wonderfully for me. With proper massage, the cream gets absorbed really well into the skin without leaving behind any greasiness. It does add a subtle sheen to the skin which gives it a healthy nourished look. I apply this in the morning after bath. Personally I feel it’s always practical to apply a body butter, cream or lotion post bath when the skin is moist. This helps in deeper absorption of the product into the skin than when it is not damp. This way it tends to keep the skin moisturized for longer time. The fragrance is definitely intense and exotic and lasts for about 2 hours or so which is not great but not bad either.
Overall just like all TBS body butters, The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Body Butter is a great product for winters and for those with dry skin. Texture wise it’s not too heavy so those with normal and slight oily body skin will like this butter.

Highly recommended! This was a limited edition range so it’s definitely out of the stores. You could still bag it on clearance at Ulta. This is a must try range for the absolutely divine fragrance.
