Clarisonic Mia 2

Today I am reviewing the Clarisonic Mia 2 Cleansing system. A lot of thinking and analyzing went into buying this since it was a splurge. I was debating between the Mia 1 & Mia 2 and after a detailed comparison decided on investing in the Mia 2. The two main aspects that sealed the deal on Mia 2 were the 2 speeds feature and the 1 minute timer which Mia 1 lacks. Clarisonic  cleansing systems have changed the way facial cleansing is being done. The brush heads use a unique sonic sonic vibration technology instead of the regular spinning motion which makes it very gentle on the skin. I have used the $35 Ulta cleansing system and believe me when I say the technologies are class apart and the sonic cleansing brush head wins over the generic rotating head brush any day.

What I think

Clarisonic Mia 2 Cleansing system is a compact rechargeable cleansing brush meant for an effective facial cleanse. Brush uses a sonic frequency of more than 300 oscillations per second to deeply cleanse the skin far more effectively and gently when compared to the traditional way of cleansing with hands or rotating brushes. Unlike traditional rotating brush heads the sonic system prevents causing surface tears or irritations on the skin. The Ulta cleansing system I used was extremely irritating and hard especially for facial skin. Suffice to say that brush hasn’t seen the light of the day since then. Ever since my skin started breaking a few months back, I was on the lookout for products that would mitigate the crisis (dramatic much? Heck yeah!). My search ended up with a lot of skin care products obviously and also cleansing brushes. I initially debated between Clinique & Clarisonic but considering the plethora of reviews online and the fact that Clarisonic is the pioneer in the cleansing brush industry, I decided on getting a Clarisonic. I fell in love with the Clarisonic Mia 2 brush the first time I used it. The first and foremost thing I felt after cleansing with this system is how smooth and soft my skin felt. I couldn’t stop touching my face (which is a bad thing to do obviously). I felt the deep cleansing action through how well my skin care products seemed to be working for my skin there on. The serums and moisturizers started penetrating the skin twice/thrice (?) as much as it used to. I cannot give a quantifiable number but honestly I could see the difference it made to my skin. However using this system did not clear the breakouts right away but it in fact started popping new zits here and there. But that was definitely the best thing that happened because I could see the cleansing action was bringing all the impurities hidden deep inside the skin to the surface. There was a spring cleaning session happening there you guys lol. I continued using the brush everyday with a personally curated list of skincare products that has worked brilliantly in the last few months in clearing out all the breakouts. I haven’t faced any zit or acne in 2 months *touch wood*.  The two separate speeds offered are excellent and you can adjust it to suit your skin’s need. I used the sensitive setting on days when I broke out and the universal speed on other days. Clarisonic says you can use it twice a day but considering how delicate facial skin is, I just use it once as a nightly ritual. It is also recommended that the brush heads be replaced every 3 months for hygiene purpose.
Overall I absolutely love the Clarisonic Mia 2 Cleansing system as it has changed how my skin looks. Though it doesn’t clear breakouts on its own it’s a brilliant product to purge your skin off deeply trapped impurities. Combined with the right skincare regimen, the Clarisonic Cleansing system is the ultimate facial treatment. It is definitely a splurge but totally worth it.

P.S I bought the Clarisonic Mia as part of a special edition pack which came with a few samples

  1. I love cleansing brushes, they feel great on my skin making it even. I haven’t tried this one though. I’ve tried the Oriflame one.
