What I think
Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask comes in an opaque plastic tub packaging. The lid screws in tightly preventing any unexpected leakage. From a hygiene perspective, a squeeze tube or pump packaging would have been ideal. The mask is off white in color and a thin consistency somewhere between a mousse and a cream. It has lots of exfoliating particles that are slightly grainy in texture so you need to be very careful if you intent on exfoliating as suggested to prevent accidental surface kin tears. The mask in itself spreads smoothly on the skin. It applies very cool on the skin and as soon as it settles it gives off an intense tingling sensation which takes a few minutes to wears off. Suffice to say, I wouldn’t recommend this for sensitive skin types even though the product claims to be suitable. This is an excellent mask for those looking for some deep pore cleansing. You will not be disappointed. It definitely draws out all impurities and dirt and visibly tightens pores temporarily giving the “reduced pore size” appearance. There are no products in the skin care line that can physically reduce the pore size. You can do that through specific targeted laser treatments. This mask makes my skin really soft. I haven’t seen any changes in my skin tone or skin elasticity though. Because of the clay content, it is not a mask intent at moisturizing so those with normal to dry skin should follow up with a moisturizer. Also one more tip for those with normal to dry skin is to remove the mask after 10 minutes. Keeping it for 15-20 minutes might be ideal for oily skin but normal to dry skin don’t have to deal with excess oil as much as those with oily skin. So the recommended 15-20 minutes might end up stripping your skin off your natural oils. This is a tip that is valid for all clay masks in general. The fragrance is absolutely lovely – an intense fruity fragrance that just makes you want to drink/eat up everything in the tub.
Overall Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask is a good intense pore cleansing clay mask that gets the job done thoroughly. It softens skin and tightens pores pulling all the dirt out. This is not a mask that will improve skin tone or elasticity though.
- Travel friendly tub
- Mousse-y cream texture
- Pulls out dirt and sebum really well
- Temporarily shrinks pores
- Makes skin soft and smooth
- Fruity fragrance
- Extremely tingly – might not suit sensitive skin types
- Caution needed as mask particles are abrasive
- Doesn’t do anything for skin tone or elasticity as claimed
- Might be drying for normal to dry skin
I would recommend this mask to those looking for a good pore cleansing mask. It doesn’t improve skin tone or elasticity as claimed so if you are looking for either, this is not the mask for you. It gives off tingling sensation that lasts for a couple of minutes so might not work for those with sensitive skin.
